A Beautiful Dog Memorial – Whole Dog Journal
Last weekend, I flew right down to San Diego, California, to spend
a few days with my sister-in-law and niece (who had additionally flown to San
Diego from northern California), to observe my son compete within the nationwide finals
for his sport. We watched some video games, cheered and took photos, after which went
to the seashore closest to the sports activities park the place the video games had been held, so we might
watch the sundown.
As luck would have it, the closest seashore turned out to be a
well-known and regionally liked “dog beach” – and we loved the sundown there,
watching a pair dozen canine romp within the waves and dig within the sand.
I went again the subsequent morning, earlier than my son’s competitors
had began, to take some extra photos with my digital camera, not only a mobile phone.
On this go to, I spent slightly extra time trying out the world, and found
one thing that we had walked proper previous on the earlier night. Right close to the
avenue, subsequent to the dog-water fountain, is a treasured little “memorial rock
backyard,” with the names of canine who’ve loved the seashore and have since
handed away, painted onto the rocks.
I used to be so touched by this little backyard! It was colourful and
easy, not in anybody’s means or ostentatious, however a ravishing place to recollect
among the beloved canine who had lived close to and loved that individual seashore
up to now. I can so simply think about strolling my canine to the seashore for a play
session, and calling out a cheery “Good morning!” to the stone bearing my
deceased canine’s identify. It would consolation me to see the stone and my canine’s identify
(and maybe, a few of his playmates!) each time I visited, to remind me of
joyous visits to that seashore up to now.
Is there a pet memorial at a canine park or seashore close to you? I
would like to see this catch on and seem elsewhere!
